Starting My Journey as an IT Helpdesk Technician at KF Aerospace

I’m incredibly excited to share that I’ve officially started a new chapter in my IT career — joining the team at KF Aerospace as an IT Helpdesk Technician!

After years of studying, hands-on practice, and real-world experience in customer service and tech support, this opportunity marks a major milestone in my transition into full-time IT work. KF Aerospace is a leading aviation company here in Canada, and I’m grateful to be part of a team that plays such a crucial role in supporting aviation operations through technology.

First Impressions

From day one, the environment has been welcoming, professional, and full of learning opportunities. I’ve already begun getting hands-on with a variety of support tasks, including:

  • Troubleshooting hardware and software issues for end users
  • Managing Active Directory accounts and permissions
  • Assisting with the Windows 10 to Windows 11 rollout project
  • Supporting a range of tech used in both office and hangar environments

One of my first assignments was helping organize and prepare a dedicated imaging room for deploying computers across the company — a great way to dive right into real-world systems and processes.

Building on What I’ve Learned

This role allows me to apply everything I’ve studied — from networking and operating systems to security and scripting. It’s also pushing me to keep growing, which is exactly what I want from a job in tech. Working in a dynamic environment like KF Aerospace means adapting quickly and being ready to support both day-to-day issues and long-term IT projects.

What’s Next?

I’m looking forward to learning more about the infrastructure behind KF Aerospace’s IT operations, getting deeper into system administration, and eventually taking on more complex troubleshooting and project work. I’ll also be sharing more about my day-to-day tasks, tools I’m using, and things I learn along the way — especially for those of you just getting into IT or considering the helpdesk path.

If you’re thinking about a career in tech, I can say this: every skill you build and every challenge you take on counts. Keep learning, stay curious, and don’t be afraid to start from the ground up — that’s exactly how careers are built.

Thanks for following along on my journey!
